Channel 4 confirms second series of Fresh Meat and Beaver Falls

Following unconfirmed reports yesterday, Channel 4 has revealed the broadcaster has recommissioned second series for Fresh Meat and Beaver Falls, the latter airing on sister station E4.

“Channel 4’s critically-acclaimed smash-hit show Fresh Meat has been recommissioned mid way through its first eight-part run.” The broadcaster states.

The Jesse Armstrong/Sam Bain created comedy drama centres on a group of six housemates embarking on the humourous and painful business of being a student and Channel 4 say “features an ensemble cast of hot young talent.”

Fresh Meat is produced by Objective Productions and, Hollyoaks producers, Lime Pictures while Beaver Falls is produced by Company Pictures for E4, which is the youth-aimed network which has become home to a number of popular dramas including BAFTA award-winning series Skins, Misfits and The Inbetweeners.

The second run of Beaver Falls will consist of six further hour-long episodes with the story picking up in the summer of 2012 as more mischief is about to be unleashed on the locals. Show regulars will find themselves with a night in jail, a shotgun wedding and a brawl with the locals. “The Brits are going to have their hands full.” Channel 4 say.

Commenting on the recommissions, Channel 4 Head of Drama, Camilla Campbell, said: ‘I am delighted that our strong series output has been recognised with a double recommission. Our series continue to reach the heart of the 16-34 audience, and consistently bring loyal viewers to Channel 4 and E4.’

The series, return to the screens in summer 2012.
