Jedward to represent Ireland at Eurovision again?
Jedward have claimed they will be representing Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest once more.
The twins, Edward and John Grimes, represented Ireland at this year’s competition which was held in Dusseldorf, Germany. Now the duo are claiming they’ll be back in the competition next year to represent Ireland once more with a brand new track. John Grimes told MTV ‘Guess what? We’re gonna be doing Eurovision 2012. It’s totally awesome. Next year its gonna be even bigger and better.’
Jedward came 8th at Dusseldorf with their song Lipstick receiving 119 votes overall which put them ahead of reformed boy-band Blue who represented the UK in the competition who came 11th, with their song I Can, which received 100 points in total. Despite the result being the UK’s best in nearly a decade Blue still received some criticism from the British press.
Edward and John Grimes shot to fame during their stint on the X Factor in 2009. Following their exit from the singing competition they were given their own ITV2 series – Jedward: Let Loose. Earlier this year they appeared on Channel Five’s revival of Celebrity Big Brother but despite being the favourites to win they came third.
The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Azerbaijan after the country won at Dusseldorf with 221 points.
