Strong ratings for Bones return
The return of detective drama Bones, starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz, provided Fox with big audiences thanks to a strong lead-in from the X Factor.
At 8pm CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory once again won the hour in terms of total viewers and viewers aged between 18-49. The latest episode of the comedy series had 15.4 million viewers overall with a hefty 5.1 18-49 rating. At 8.30 on CBS Rules of Engagement continued with 11.9 million viewers and a 3.7 rating. The X Factor on Fox also had a strong outing with 11.2 million viewers overall and a 3.6 18-49 rating. The Vampire Diaries on The CW continued to perform well with the supernatural drama having a 1.5 18-49 rating but 3.3 million viewers overall while comedy Community on NBC had 3.8 million overall and a 1.7 rating – not all that between the two shows in terms of total viewers or all the important 18-49 demo. At 8.30 on NBC Parks and Recreation had 3.9 million viewers and a 2.0 rating. Finally in the 8pm hour Charlie’s Angels continued to play out the remainder of its episodes following its cancellation – the detective drama had 5.3 million viewers and a lowly 1.2 18-49 rating.
At 9pm ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy won the hour in terms of the 18-49 demo with a 3.5 rating and 9.2 million viewers overall. The season premier of Bones on Fox, starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz, had 10 million viewers overall and a 3.3 18-49 rating. Supernatural drama The Secret Circle on The CW had 2.2 million viewers overall with a 0.9 18-49 rating. The Office on NBC continued its latest season with 6 million viewers and a 3.1 rating followed by Whitney at 9.30 with 4.3 million viewers and a 2.1 18-49 rating. Person of Interest on CBS had 11.6 winning the hour in terms of total viewers.
At 10pm The Mentalist on CBS won the hour with 13.3 million viewers overall and a 2.9 18-49 rating. ABC’s Private Practice continued with 6.7 million viewers and a 2.6 18-49 rating while police drama Prime Suspect on NBC had 4.4 million viewers and a 1.2 rating – cancellation is still looming for the remake.
