Samantha Womack for Britain’s Got Talent?
The Sun claims that former EastEnders actress is being lined up as a new judge on Britain’s Got Talent.
The tabloid reports the actress has been in secret talks with bosses of the hit ITV series and has impressed them so much she’s on the final short-list of contenders. Womack exited EastEnders earlier this year after playing Ronnie Mitchell for several years. The actress reportedly quit over the soap’s controversial baby-swap plot which prompted thousands of complaints from angry viewers.
Producers on Britain’s Got Talent are looking for two new judges after Michael McIntyre quit and actor David Hasselhoff was reportedly dropped from the line-up. The two were picked as replacements for Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell both of whom left to concentrate on their American commitments; Cowell on launching the X Factor in the US and Morgan on his CNN chat-show Piers Morgan Tonight.
“Samantha is brilliant and the bosses love her. She’s hugely popular as ten million people watched her every week on EastEnders — and she’s got a fair old mouth on her. She’s not afraid to call a spade a spade but she also has a down-to-earth approach that producers think will encourage acts. We don’t just want the judges to slag people off.” – A “source” quoted in The Sun
Since news of Hasselhoff and McIntyre’s exit from BGT the press have been speculating over who bosses would hire next to replace them. Early reports indicated former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole who quickly ruled herself out. Over the weekend it was reported that Dannii Minogue, who sat alongside Cole on the X Factor judges panel, was under consideration along with the actor and comedian David Walliams.
