Seventh season of Dynasty to be released on DVD
The seventh season of glamorous soap opera Dynasty will be released on DVD in the UK in January.
For UK fans of the 1980s drama the long wait for the seventh series to be released on DVD is nearly over. Fans will just have to wait roughly two months for the seventh season to be released in the UK. The complete seventh season of Dynasty is scheduled for release, in the UK, on January 30th. The seventh season has already been released in Sweden and is scheduled for release in Germany on the 8th December.
The seventh season of Dynasty saw Alexis Colby (Joan Collins) and Ben Carrington (Christopher Cazenova) continue their vendetta against Blake Carrington (John Forsythe). After being thrown out of his mansion by Alexis, who had acquired the property, Blake and Krystle (Linda Evans) are forced to move into the Carlton Hotel. A fire at La Mirage, Blake’s hotel, burns the complex to the ground and Alexis tries to ensure Blake is blamed for the fire.
By the time the seventh season of Dynasty aired the drama was already tumbling down the ratings chart but that didn’t stop the series continuing its high mix of glamour, melodrama and cat-fights. The seventh 
season is notable for its recasting of the character of Amanda Carrington as Catherine Oxenberg, who played her in the fifth and sixth season, was replaced with Karen Cellini; it was a recast that didn’t go down well with audiences.
The seventh season’s January release date will be more or less a year after the sixth season was released in the UK – a long wait for fans. UK fans who are disgruntled at having waited so long for the season seven to be released may want to spare a thought for their American counter-parts; season five has yet to be released in America as a complete box-set. Dynasty is being repeated though on digital CBS Drama which also recently repeated the spin-off series The Colby’s in its entirety.
