Bryan Singer to direct The Munsters

The MunstersBryan Singer is to direct and executive producer NBC’s remake of The Munsters.

Earlier this month NBC ordered a pilot episode for Bryan Fuller’s proposed remake of The Munsters which would rework the 1960s sitcom into a darker, edgier series for the 21st century. The proposed remake had been in development at NBC for sometime before the broadcaster felt confident enough to order a pilot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the remake will be directed by Bryan Singer who will also serve as an executive producer. Singer is probably best known for his work two X Men films as well as Superman Returns and Valkyrie; the Tom Cruise film about a plot to kill Hitler towards the end of the Second World War. His television credits include directing the pilots for House and ABC’s remake of Footballers Wives. Singer is also currently working on a new Battlestar Galactica movie which will be more akin to the original 1970s series rather than the recent Syfy series.
