Dougie Poynter's I'm a Celeb victory pulls in big ratings

Dougie Poynter’s victory over Mark Wright in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was a ratings winner for ITV1 last night.

The McFly bassist won the ITV series beating The Only Way is Essex‘ Mark Wright to be crowned King of the Jungle. Previous winners of the series include Stacey Solomon, Joe Swash, Matt Willis, Carol Thatcher and Kerry Katona. At 9.30pm last night 9.7 million viewers tuned in for the grand finale of the 11th series. Earlier in the evening the semi-finals of the X Factor had 10.2 million viewers with a further 350,000 watching via the time-shift channel.

On BBC One Strictly Come Dancing pulled in 10.3 million viewers from 7pm with the latest episode of fantasy drama Merlin attracting 5.6 million viewers. Medical drama Casualty suffered from the tough competition on ITV1 with just 3.8 million viewers.
