Peter Capaldi to join The Hour

The HourPeter Capaldi is to join the cast of BBC Two drama The Hour for its second series.

The BAFTA award-winning actor will join the second series of the BBC newsroom based drama, reports The Guardian. Details of the actor’s role in The Hour have not yet been revealed. The first series of The Hour aired earlier this year on BBC One and revolved around the Suez Canal crisis and a conspiracy within the government itself.

The Hour starred Dominic West, Romola Garai, Anna Chancellor, Ben Whishaw, Burn Gorman and Burn Gorman, whose character was killed off part way through the series. As revealed last month Whishaw will appear in the next James Bond film Skyfall as gadget master Q.

Peter Capaldi won a BAFTA last year for his role of Malcolm Tucker in the BBC comedy The Thick of It. His other notable roles include Torchwood: Children of Earth, Accused, The Suspicions of Mr. Whincher, The Nativity, The Devil’s Whore and Sea of Souls.
