Blue Peter cut back to one episode a week

The BBC has confirmed that children’s magazine programme Blue Peter will air once a week from January.

The world’s longest running children’s television show will now only air once a week. The episode will get its first outing on the BBC’s children’s channel CBBC and then air the next day on BBC One. Currently Blue Peter airs twice a week but has suffered from a decline in ratings over the years.

The BBC have said that the number of episodes produced will not be lost as they will no longer take a summer break and more specials will be commissioned. The iconic children’s programme first launched on our screens in 1958. This year seen the show move out of its home at Television Centre in London to BBC studios at MediaCity UK in Salford.
