X Factor winners Little Mix take No.1 slot
Girl group Little Mix have gone to straight to Number 1 in the UK Top 40 a week after winning The X Factor.
Their cover of Damien Rice’s ‘Cannonball’ was released last Sunday after they became the first group to win the competition. It remains to be seen if they will take the top spot in the ‘prestigious’ Christmas chart which this year will be on Christmas Day itself. The bookies have the Military Wives Choir as favourite to be the Christmas No.1.
In 2009 a campaign was launched to stop the X Factor winner getting to No.1 for Christmas. The campaign worked as that years winner Joe McElderry was held off by Rage Against The Machine. However a similar campaign last year fizzled out, with Matt Cardle getting the Christmas Number 1.
