The Royal Bodyguard drops to 4.5 million viewers

David JasonThe second episode of BBC One‘s new comedy The Royal Bodyguard, starring David Jason, lost over 2 million viewers last night.

The new comedy launched on Boxing Day with an impressive 7 million viewers but it would seem not all were amused by Jason’s new series. There were mixed reviews to The Royal Bodyguard and reaction amongst viewers were mixed well. According to overnight figures 2.5 million viewers failed to return for the second episode which had 4.5 million viewers at 9pm last night. Mrs Brown’s Boys followed on BBC One at 9.30pm with 5.2 million viewers which was down on last week’s Christmas Special but still higher than it rated for its first series last year and still a good figure.

Elsewhere last night ITV1‘s Endeavour, a one-off prequel to Inspector Morse, had 6.5 million viewers. There were reports over the weekend that the broadcaster was considering ordering a full series of the prequel if ratings were good. Fans of the Morse franchise will now be waiting to see if ITV deem last night’s figures high enough to commission further instalments.
