Joshua Jackson on Fringe's uncertain future

Joshua Jackson and Anna TorvJoshua Jackson has spoken out over the future of Fringe which is seemingly facing cancellation.

As we reported earlier the future of Fringe doesn’t look all that bright with producers already stating the season four finale could work as a series finale should the quirky drama be cancelled by Fox. Kevin Reilly, Fox’s entertainment president, has admitted Fringe loses the broadcaster money but has stressed the future of Fringe (renewal or cancellation) hasn’t been decided yet.

The admission though that the series loses Fox money has, for some people, become the final nail in the coffin for Fringe. The imminent cancellation of Fringe seems almost a certainty for some out there which is perhaps why Joshua Jackson has spoken out about the future of the series. The actor is quoted as saying ‘He [Kevin Reilly] could not have been more clear … He’s not running a charitable foundation. And if the show is really not making money then that should be it. But the important thing to me is that our writers are given a chance to finish the show, because it’s a serialized show.”

However, even if Fringe is cancelled by Fox that may not be the end of the line for the series. As we reported in our earlier article the producers are keen to continue the series in another form be they webisodes, graphic novels or with another broadcaster. Fringe may very well be reaching the end of its time with Fox but it may not be over completely just yet….
