ITV in talks to pick up Something for the Weekend

ITVITV is reportedly in talks with the team behind BBC Two‘s Something for the Weekend to pick the Sunday morning show up after it was axed by the corporation.

The BBC Two show has aired on the channel since 2006 and has built up a loyal fan base who are upset over the show’s cancellation and have already started a campaign to save the series. Something for the Weekend is currently fronted by Tim Lovejoy and Louise Redknapp though former presenters include Amanda Hamilton.

Media Guardian reports that ITV is in talks with Princess Productions, who produce the show, about picking it up for ITV1. As the series is not produced by the BBC a move to another broadcaster is a possibility. An ITV insider told Media Guardian talks were at an early stage and ‘We’re always looking at things that might work creatively. But it would not be called Something for the Weekend. Something Else for the Weekend, perhaps?’
