Dallas: More original series characters to return

Producers on Dallas have teased that more characters from the original series of the oil-based drama will return over the course of its first season on TNT.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s winter tour producers revealed that other characters from Dallas‘ original run would return during the first season of the revived drama. So far five characters have been confirmed as returning on either a full time or recurring basis.  The ‘big three’, who are regular cast members, are J.R (Larry Hagman), Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) and Bobby (Patrick Duffy) while recurring will be Lucy (Charlene Tilton), Ray (Steve Kanaly) and J.R’s old rival Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval).

Producers wouldn’t reveal which other characters would be returning – assuming they weren’t revealing to those already confirmed. The inevitable question of whether Victoria Principal would resume her role of Pam Ewing (first wife of Bobby, sister to Cliff Barnes and bitter enemy of J.R) was raised but producers stated there were no plans to revive the character. Writer and producer Cynthia Cidre replied to the question ‘The mythology that we carry forward is that after she had that crash with the oil tanker, and left the family and abandoned Christopher, she went and eventually had plastic surgery and (re) married’

Dallas fans will now be pondering on which other characters the new series will be reviving.
