Katherine Kelly’s Coronation Street exit tops 11 million viewers
Katherine Kelly’s exit from Coronation Street after six years was a bit hit with viewers last night with over 11 million tuning in to ITV1.
The highly anticipated exit of actress Katherine Kelly from Coronation Street last night drew big ratings. The actress has played Becky McDonald since 2006 and is a firm fan favourite. Last night’s double bill of Corrie saw the wedding of scheming Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson). Viewers tuned in to see if Becky would have her revenge on Tracy for lying about her miscarriage but in a twist the wedding went ahead with Becky waiting till the reception in the Rovers before revealing the truth to a stunned Steven and guests. The first instalment at 7.30pm was seen by 10.4 million viewers with ratings rising to 11.5 million at 8.30 for the second instalment in which the truth was revealed and Becky said goodbye to the street.
Elsewhere last night soap-wise and Ben Mitchell’s (Joshua Pascoe) revenge against his father Phil (Steve McFadden) continued as his family discovered who was responsible for Phil’s arrest. The 8pm showing of EastEnders on BBC One was seen by 9 million viewers with a further 610,000 watching on BBC Three at 10pm. Yorkshire soap Emmerdale had nearly 8 million viewers for ITV1 at 7pm last night with 7.9 million viewers.
