Denise Welch wins Celebrity Big Brother 2012

Denise Welch has won Celebrity Big Brother 2012, with X Factor reject Frankie Cocozza finishing in second place.

Frankie had emerged as favourite to win, but in a late surge in the past 24 hours, the Loose Women star managed to secure the most public votes and win. She follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner Paddy Doherty. Denise told Brian Dowling “Honest to god, I don’t think I’ve ever been so lost for words“

Kristina and Karissa Shannon  finished in fifth place being the first housemate to be evicted in tonight’s final. The twins, who are counted as one housemate, left to a chorus of boos from the crowd. They were involved in a major row at the beginning of the week with Denise Welch and Nicola McLean.

During the interview the crowd were chanting “off off!”, similar to the treatment that Nicola received on Wednesday. They said to host Brian Dowling: “We didn’t know what was going to happen last week so we’re happy we’re here now. Everybody won”. The twins came across as over confident in the house, even proclaiming that they would win the show.

Hollywood star Michael Madsen came fourth and left the house to a much better reception that the twins. Similar to the twins, Michael did not get along with Denise, clashing at various points during the series.

He became annoyed that she remained in the house for so long, assuming it was to do with her role on Loose Women. Upon leaving Michael told Brian Dowling “I didn’t even think I’d make it through three days, I’m just not cut out for this sort of thing”.

Former rugby player Gareth Thomas came in third place. The one-time favourite to win kept his head down in the house and got along with everyone. Most housemates over the period complimented him for being a nice person although there was some criticism from fans that he was too quiet.

He was only ever nominated once during his time and that was from Michael. During his exit interview he said: “I survived. I think everybody’s focus was to get to the final week”.
