Jessie Wallace to take a break from EastEnders

Jessie Wallace has been temporarily written out of EastEnders.

Jessie Wallace as Kat

The Sun reports that bosses have given the actress the time off to deal with her spilt from partner Vince Morse.

Wallace, who plays Kat Moon, is expected to be absent from the show for a period of three months. It’s thought that the absence was unprepared for; consequently bosses have had to rework scripts.

“Jessie’s worked solidly since her wedding nightmare and had already come back early from what would have been her honeymoon.  It was a very easy decision to make for the show. She is a great actress and extremely popular on set. She’ll come back stronger than ever.” – A “source” speaking to The Sun

Kat’s exit will see her rush to be with her father Charlie (Derek Martin) after he suffers a stroke.

Jessie has played the role of Kat across two separate stints since 2000. The ‘tart with a heart’ character is best known for a storyline that saw her reveal to her sister Zoe that she was in fact her mum, having been raped by their paternal uncle.

Kat returned to Albert Square with husband Alfie in 2010. The pair are a popular double act in the show.
