Daybreak; as popular as haemorrhoids.

Daybreak newsreader Tasmin Lucia Khan has been dropped from the ITV 1 breakfast show as producers continue to search for new anchors.

Tasmin announced the night before on Twitter that Friday would be her last Daybreak as she is off to America. She has been the main newsreader for the failing morning show since it launched in September 2010.

The breakfast programme has struggled since it replaced GMTV.

GMTV and Daybreak have both been produced at The London Studios.

Former BBC Breakfast editor David Kermode has been drafted in as Daybreak’s editor in the hope he and a new team can get the show on-track.

Last December the main presenters of Daybreak, Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, were axed from the show. There has been no announcement yet as to who will replace them.

“I imagine we will end up with a clone of GMTV at some point, just called Daybreak. They might as well swallow their pride and go the whole hog and just rebrand it back to the more popular name.”-  TV Critic Vivian Summers

Missed: GMTV personalities.
