Charlie CondouCoronation Street actor Charlie Condou has announced the birth of his second child, a son.

The openly gay actor plays Marcus Dent in the ITV1 soap, the boyfriend of knicker-stitcher Sean Tully (Anthony Cotton). The actor announced on Twitter a new addition to his family, a son named Hal. As well as acting in Coronation Street the actor also writes a regular column for The Guardian newspaper. When the ITV soap was criticised by critic Brian Sewell, writing in the Daily Mail, about the number of LGBT characters within the series Condou used his Guardian column to defend Corrie. Sewell was also highly critical of Corrie rival EastEnders for, what he saw, was their promotion of homosexual relationships. {jcomments off}
