Chesney Hawkes has been forced to pull out of Dancing on Ice because of an injury and will be replaced by former X Factor contestant Chico.
As ATV Today reported yesterday Hawkes is one of several celebrities to have been injured so far and Dancing on Ice hasn’t even launched on television yet. The singer has reportedly broken his leg meaning he will no longer be able to take part in the series. The singer is quoted by The Sun as saying ‘I am gutted. I was having a brilliant time and couldn’t wait to finally be skating live on national TV. It wasn’t even a spectacular fall. It was a slight stumble as I practised with my skating partner. I’m determined to be back, though. I won’t be able to appear in this series but I’m hoping I will be able to appear in the show next year’
Hawkes will be replaced by Chico Slimani who is best known for his appearance in the 2005 series of the X Factor and for his one hit single Chico Time which followed. Chico told The Sun ‘I’m delighted I’m in but disappointed for Chesney.’ Hawkes isn’t the only celebrity to have been injured so far; Jennifer Ellison, Laila Morse and Heidi Range have also sustained injuries as has Range’s dancing partner Sylvain Longchambon.
Dancing on Ice launches on Sunday evening on ITV1.
