Comedy actress Phyllis Diller is to return to the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful later this year.
CBS Soaps in Depth report the actress will reprise her role of Gladys Pope for two episodes in March; B&B‘s 25th anniversary month. The Los Angeles fashion based soap launched on the 23rd March 1985 as a replacement for the cancelled soap Capitol.
Diller played make-up artist Gladys Pope on a recurring basis between 1995 and 2004 – her character was a friend of Sally Spectra (the late Darlene Conley) who was a long-term rival to the Forrester family and their fashion empire. Soaps in Depth teases that this time around Gladys appearance will be as ‘an important part in a very romantic event’.
As The Bold and the Beautiful prepares to celebrate its 25th birthday fans will be hoping some other former stars of the most watched daytime soap in the world will also return.
