Pink News honours Peter Tatchell

Pink NewsLeading gay news website Pink News has honoured the human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.

To mark his birthday Pink News has held what it has dubbed ‘Peter Tatchell’ day to honour the prolific campaigner. The website has uploaded a number of features on Tatchell which take a look at his various campaigns over the years. Pink News has also uploaded tributes to Tatchell from the likes of Stephen Fry, Nick Clegg, Simon Hughes and Nikolay Alekseev.

Tatchell has campaigned tirelessly for equal rights for the gay community as well as human rights in general. He is one of the most high profile human rights campaigners, and indeed gay rights campaigners, in UK if not Europe as a whole. In more recent years he has campaigned for marriage equality in the UK; giving gay couples the right to marry. He has also campaigned for Civil Partnerships to be extended to heterosexual couples – something the government currently has no plans for.
