Supernatural future uncertain admits producer

Jensen AcklesSupernatural producer Sera Gamble has admitted the future of The CW series is unclear.

The drama starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki is currently in its seventh season but The CW has yet to order an eight season. Showrunner Sera Gamble, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, said ‘We’re planning for the worst and hoping for the best’. Earlier in the season Mark Pedowitz, The CW’s entertainment president, was confident over Supernatural’s future stating ‘It’s not intended to be the last season. We’ll see where the ratings go. We hope the show keeps going.’

While ratings for Supernatural have been down compared to previous seasons it is still performing relatively well for The CW and is widely expected to be renewed. The CW has experienced something of a lacklustre season ratings wise with several shows now tipped for the axe such as Gossip Girl and Nikita.
