The Body Farm has been axed by the BBC after just one series.
The detective drama starred Tara Fitzgerald and Keith Allen and was a spin-off from the long running Waking the Dead – Fitzgerald reprised her role from the cold case drama. However, The Body Farm failed to take off with audiences in the same way that Waking the Dead did and its ratings were decidedly average.
It has now been revealed that the BBC has decided not to order a second series following the disappointing performance of the first. Another factor in the BBC’s decision is likely to be its reduced budgets in light of the licence fee freeze and the fact the corporation has recently announced a raft of new drama commissions.
