TV presenter and documentary filmmaker Dawn Porter has struck a deal to unleash her first novel, Renèe and Flo, worldwide.
Well known for her open presentation style in documentaries such as the Dawn Porter: Extreme Wife series and regular slots on Gok Wan’s How To Look Good Naked, as well as contributions to Stylist, Grazia, the Sunday Times Style magazine, Company and Cosmopolitan, amongst others, Dawn’s onscreen wit and humour has now moved onto paper.
The deal with publisher Hot Key Books sees Renèe and Flo released as a two part series of what is described as an epic girls’ adventure for 12 plus readers.
Dawn commented: ‘It is so exciting to be a part of Hot Key Books. The team is so full of energy and I couldn’t be happier to have my first piece of fiction published by them….I’ve been talking about Renèe and Flo for nearly a year now, discussing the complexities of female friendships. I have a lot to say on the matter. I can’t wait to see these books published!’
Based on Dawn’s own childhood experiences in Guernsey, it exposes the intense and powerful bond that exists between girls of a certain age and the deep ‘love affair’ between female friends that can survive boys, family tragedy and mutual betrayal…Poignant but full of mischief this is ‘growing up’ saga with real heart. It’s a tale that the publishers believe will resonate with older girls too.
