Len Goodman hits back at Simon Cowell’s decision to hire Alesha Dixon

Strictly Come Dancing head judge Len Goodman has hit out at Simon Cowell following Alesha Dixon’s depature to rival show.

It was announced last month that Alesha Dixon will not be returning to the dancing show this year as she has signed up to be a judge on ITV 1’s Britain’s Got Talent. At the time, BGT judge Simon Cowell said that the biggest part of his decision was based on her being Strictly and only a small part that he actually liked her. “But the Alesha thing was kind of fun. My decision to poach her was 70-30 on the fact she was on Strictly and the fact I liked her.”

Now head judge on Strictly, Len Goodman, has hit out at Cowell during a radio interview on BBC Radio 5 Live. Goodman said: “I would never knock the opposition and I think it is spiteful and mean if that is the case that Simon said, ‘I just want to be spiteful towards Strictly’. Why would you want to do that? Why would you want to spoil millions of people’s pleasures? It’s not the right way to behave, so if that is the case – shame on you, Simon.”
