Alex Kingston teases Doctor Who return
Alex Kingston has hinted she will return to Doctor Who during its forthcoming seventh season.
The actress has hinted that viewers haven’t seen the last of River Song. The character was revealed, during the sixth season, to be the daughter of companions Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) and Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) solving some of the mystery surrounding her character. In the sixth season finale, The Wedding of River Song, the character seemingly married the Doctor although technically it was a facsimile robotic version of the Time Lord.
Alex Kingston discussed a possible return to Doctor Who while prompting her role in Upstairs Downstairs. Kingston joins the cast of the BBC One drama for its second season as Blanche Mottershead. The second season is due to air on BBC One shortly. Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Kingston briefly discussed Doctor Who teasing ‘You may see her again. Who knows? Let’s just say, Upstairs Downstairs and Doctor Who don’t film at the same time’
Steven Moffat has previously said of River Song ‘I don’t imagine she’ll leave him alone now, not now she’s made an honest man of him’. Given the fact that Rory and Amy will be written out during the seventh season its highly likely fans will see River Song again and her return may very well be tied into the departure of her parents from the Tardis and the Doctor….
