The Sun editor has defended ‘Page 3’ which features topless models following years of complaints.

Dominic Mohan told the Leveson Inquiry yesterday: “It is 42-year-old British institution that celebrates natural beauty”. Over the years there have been many complaints to  the newspaper for having a topless model on page 3 of the newspaper.

On accusations that the newspaper is sexist he said: “Some of the allegations I’ve heard about the Sun being sexist and not tackling women’s issues is a false one.”

This was the second time that the editor has giving evidence to the Leveson Inquiry. The Inquiry was set up following revelations that its now defunct sister paper News of the World  hacked into voicemail messages.
