Private Practice ratings rise thanks to Grey's Anatomy crossover
Ratings for ABC medical drama Private Practice rose on Thursday evening thanks to a crossover with parent series Grey’s Anatomy.
A two hour instalment of American Idol on Fox from 8pm had 16.4 million viewers with a 5.0 rating but CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory also had a 5.0 18-49 rating and wasn’t that far behind in terms of total viewers either with 15.5 million. The CBS series was followed at 8.30pm by Rob which had 10.9 million viewers and a 3.2 18-49 rating. NBC comedy 30 Rock pulled in 3.6 million viewers with a 1.4 18-49 rating followed by Parks and Recreation with 3.5 million viewers and a 1.7 rating. Wipeout on ABC mustered 5.1 million viewers with a 1.5 rating while supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries was seen by 2.8 million viewers with a 1.3 rating.
At 9pm Grey’s Anatomy was seen by 8.1 million viewers with a 3.1 18-49 rating while The CW‘s supernatural block continued with The Secret Circle which attracted 1.7 million viewers and had a 0.8 rating. Person of Interest on CBS pulled in 13.2 million viewers with a 2.9 rating while The Office, on NBC, had 4.3 million viewers with a 2.2 rating followed by Up All Night with 3 million and a 1.5 rating.
At 10pm medical drama Private Practice on ABC definitely benefited from another crossover with parent series Grey’s Anatomy. Private Practice saw its ratings rise to 7 million viewers and a 2.6 19-49 rating but it wasn’t enough to top The Mentalist on CBS which had 13 million viewers and a 2.8 rating.
