As The World Turns episodes to be streamed online

As The World TurnsSoap Classics will start streaming episodes of defunct soap As The World Turns from today.

The episodes of the American daytime soap will be streamed online primarily for fans based in the Netherlands (Holland) and South Africa where the serial has just gone off-air. However, fans from across the world will be able to watch episodes from the Oakdale based soap via the company’s international streaming site – reports CBS Soaps in Depth.

The episodes made available for streaming will begin from 2005 and 2007 – as Holland’s episodes stopped at 2005 while South Africa was slightly more ahead than its European counter-part. Both countries are way behind American viewers though who watched the final episode of the series in 2010 after CBS pulled the plug and the soap could not find a new home.

Fans from around the world can relive the final years of the classic soap thanks to the online streaming such as the ‘Nuke’ storyline – a particularly successful gay romance storyline from the soaps last years on-air. Luke Snyder (Van Hansis) and Noah Mayer (Jake Silbermann ‘Nuke’ was the romance between Luke Snyder (Van Hansis) and Noah Mayer (Jake Silbermann) which gained an international following and became the last true ‘super couple’ of the soap.

Episodes of As The World Turns have been released on DVD by Soap Classics who have also released fellow soap Guiding Light which was the longest running soap in the world when it ended in 2009; it clocked up an incredible 72 years by the time of its finale. Soap Classics has the rights to other popular soaps no longer on-air such as The Edge of Night, Texas and Search for Tomorrow and is hoping to release episodes of them, and further releases of GL/ATWT, on DVD.
