John de Lancie to join The Secret Circle
Star Trek actor John de Lancie has signed up for a guest role in witchy drama The Secret Circle.
TV Guide reports the actor will play one of the elders in a forthcoming episode of The CW supernatural drama. The actor will play Royce Armstrong who arrives with information for the circle’s members.
John de Lancie is probably best remembered for his role of Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The actor also made appearances in fellow spin-offs Deep Space Nine and Voyager as the powerful and playful Q. Last year he played CIA boss Allen Shapiro in three episodes of Torchwood: Miracle Day and also appeared in the ill-fated Law and Order spin-off based in Los Angeles.
The Secret Circle has yet to be renewed for a second series by The CW but given its ratings performance so far is a strong candidate for renewal compared to other shows in the broadcaster’s line-up. The series is adapted from the novels by L.J Smith who also penned The Vampire Diaries which has also been adapted for television by The CW. However, as yet despite the similarity between the two shows they have not featured any crossover plots as reports indicate they are unlikely to do so.
