Eurovision fans unimpressed by Engelbert Humperdinck

Engelbert HumperdinckUK Eurovision fans are unimpressed that Engelbert Humperdinck has been selected to represent the country in this year’s competition.

Engelbert Humperdinck was revealed as the UK entry for Eurovision, last week, by the BBC in what can only be described as a surprise selection. There had been rumours that girl group Atomic Kitten would reform to represent the country although this was denied by members of the group – though they have since confirmed they will indeed reform.

Humperdinck is a break from recent UK entries for Eurovision and is someone younger audiences will not be overly familiar with. It’s perhaps not surprising then that his selection has prompted some criticism, The Sun reports, on the contest’s website. Fans have questioned why Humperdinck has been selected for the UK with some wondering if the BBC has ‘given up’ with Eurovision.

What do you think of Engelbert Humperdinck selection for Eurovision? Do you think he has what it takes to do well in Eurovision (we’re unlikely to win whoever we send) or do you think he will make us a laughing stock? Post your comments below.
