Police arrest six as part of Operation Weeting
The Metropolitan Police have announced that six people have been arrested as part of Operation Weeting.
Operation Weeting is the police inquiry into phone-hacking of voicemails. All of those arrested today, five men and one woman were taken in on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
A 43 year old woman was arrested in Oxfordshire and is being interviewed at a local police station. A 49 year old also arrested in Oxfordshire has been taken to a Buckinghamshire police station to be questioned.
Other arrests include a 39 year old man from Hampshire, 28 year old man from Hertfordshire and a 46 year old from West London. The final arrest of a 48 year old man took place at a business address in East London. All the arrests took place early this morning.
Operation Weeting was set up by the Met Police to investigate alleged phone-hacking of voicemail messages by journalists at News International.
