Matt Davis joins new CW pilot Cult
Vampire Diaries actor Matt Davis has been cast in CW‘s new thriller pilot Cult.
Warning: May contain spoilers.
Deadline reports that Davis has been cast in Cult, the CW’s new thriller pilot for Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The duo are certainly busy at present as not only do they have Cult to contend with but also Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries and a remake of British super-power drama Misfits – and Gossip Girl should The CW renew it for another year.
Davis will play Jeff, a ‘journalist blogger’ who works with a production assistant (Jessica Lucas) on a popular television series called Cult. The two investigate the show’s fans who may be recreating crimes from the programme. Robert Knepper and Alona Tal have also been cast in the pilot.
Davis currently plays history teacher/vampire hunter Alaric on fellow CW drama series The Vampire Diaries. Alaric is the nearest thing to family Elena (Nina Dobrev) has left in Mystic Falls after the death of her aunt Jenna (Sara Canning) and pretty much everyone else in her family bar ‘brother’ Jeremy (Steven R McQueen). So does Matt Davis new role mean he’ll be leaving the Vampire Diaries? Well Deadline merely states ‘Davis will be available to make guest appearances in future seasons of Vampire Diaries.’
