Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome not going to series

Battlestar GalacticaBattlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will not be picked up by Syfy as a television series.

The prequel, starring Luke Pasqualino as William Adama during the first Cylon war, was announced last year after the demise of Caprica after just one series. Originally announced as a web based series it was very quickly upgraded to a television event but then news surrounding the project began to dry up.

That was until earlier this week when a trailer was leaked onto the internet sparking wide spread interest in the project once more. However, Syfy has now stated that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will not be picked up for a television series and the project has reverted back to its original premise of being web based.

“Though the vision for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned. We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen.” – Mark Stern of Syfy in a statement

There is still, as yet, no date for when Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will air, either online or on television, and its hard to see how a web based series will work considering the costs involved with science fiction. A web based series would certainly limit the available audience and would mean it wouldn’t generate as much media interest as parent series Battlestar Galactica did across its run. For fans of the franchise its now a waiting game to see just when Blood & Chrome will air.
