Sport Relief raises £50 million during telethon
Sport Relief has raised more than £50 million during last night’s charity telethon broadcast on BBC One.
The live show which aired yesterday evening featured many sport stars and celebrities appealing for donations. There were also a number of special sketches including one from comedy Absolutely Fabulous and ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
The latest count stands at £50,447,197 although this is expected to rise as donations keep coming in. The Sport Relief Mile in which one million people are expected to take part in tomorrow.
Sport Relief first began in 2002 and airs every two years alternating with Comic Relief.
