Laura Haddock joins Da Vinci’s Demons

Upstairs Downstairs actress Laura Haddock has joined the cast of Da Vinci’s Demons.

The historical fantasy drama is a co-production between the BBC and Starz and will focus on Da Vinci’s youth spent in Renaissance Florence. Tom Riley has previously been announced as leading the cast of the new drama. Laura Haddock has now been added to the cast; she will play Lucrezia Donati according to Deadline. The character is the lover of Da Vinici and of Lorenzo Medici.

Laura Haddock was most recently seen as maid Beryl in BBC One’s Upstairs Downstairs which drew to a close on Sunday. It is currently unknown whether or not the BBC will order a third series as its ratings were lower than the 2010 revival. Haddock’s other roles include The Inbetweeners movie, Strike Back, Monday Monday and The Palace.
