Elena (Nina Dobrev) is surprised to receive an invitation to a formal ball being hosted by Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) both insist on escorting her to the party – after all everyone knows that formally events in Mystic Falls usually ends in someone dying.

 

In fact Elena herself doesn’t have a good track record at parties either – again someone usually dies. So its little wonder that the Salvatore insist on going to protect her from any trouble that may develop and knowing Mystic Falls trouble won’t be far away….

Caroline (Candice Accola) and Matt (Zach Roerig) all receive invitations to the ball and attend where Caroline discovers an unexpected side to Klaus.  Esther (Alice Evans) has been reunited with her family but has she really forgiven Klaus for murdering her and creating the hybrids?
