Patrick Duffy: More original Dallas characters could return

DallasPatrick Duffy has teased more characters from the original series of Dallas could be return for the new TNT revival.

Patrick Duffy reprises his role of Bobby Ewing on TNT’s revival of the iconic 1980s drama alongside Larry Hagman as J.R Ewing and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen Ewing. Also reprising their roles for the TNT update are Charlene Tilton, Steve Kanaly and Ken Kercheval as Cliff Barnes – the long standing rival to J.R Ewing and the Ewing family as a whole.

While appearing on ITV1’s Daybreak earlier this week, to discuss the new Dallas, actor Patrick Duffy teased that more characters from the original series could return in the future. ‘Anybody who’s still alive, the options are on the table to come back’ The actor remarked. Producers have previously teased that more characters, bar those already announced, could return during the course of the new Dallas.

However, producers have – for now – ruled out the possibility of Victoria Principal returning as Pamela Barnes Ewing – the first wife of Bobby, sister of Cliff Barnes and mother of Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe). Victoria Principal played Pam between 1978 and 1987 when her character was written out following a car crash. Fans were hopeful that producers would revive the character of Pam and bring her back to Dallas but for now producers have ruled that out.

The original series of Dallas aired on CBS between 1978 and 1991 spanning 13 seasons and 357 episodes; it also spawned spin-off series Knots Landing which focused on J.R and Bobby’s younger brother Gary Ewing (Ted Shackleford) and his wife Valene (Joan Van Ark).

The new series of Dallas launches on TNT on June 13th and will air on Channel Five in the UK later this year.
