American Idol and Big Bang Theory in ratings clash
The Big Bang Theory and American Idol clashed last night at 8pm with each show winning victory in different ways; the CBS comedy had a higher 18-49 ratings but the Fox series had more viewers overall.
The Big Bang Theory had a 18-49 rating of 4.5 million viewers with but had 13.6 million viewers overall while American Idol had a 15.2 million viewers but a 4.2 18-49 rating. Following Big Bang Theory at 8.30 was Rules of Engagement with 8.8 million viewers and a 2.8 rating. Community on NBC pulled in 3.6 million viewers with a 1.7 rating while 30 Rock at 8.30pm was seen by 3.1 million viewers with a 1.5 rating. ABC’s Missing continued with 7.7 million viewers with a 1.4 rating – if its figures don’t improve it’ll be missing a season renewal order. Meanwhile supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries on The CW mustered 2.3 million viewers with a 1.1 rating.
At 9pm CBS’s Person of Interest won the hour completely with 14.4 million viewers with a 3.3 18-49 rating. Fox’s new drama Touch had 9.1 million viewers with a 2.8 rating while witch drama The Secret Circle on The CW had 1.3 million viewers with a 0.6 rating. Elsewhere at 9pm there were repeats with Grey’s Anatomy seen by 4.2 million viewers with a 1.3 rating while NBC’s The Office had a 1.2 rating but 2.5 million viewers followed by Up All Night with a 1.3 18-49 rating and 2.9 million viewers overall.
At 10pm The Mentalist on CBS completely dominated the hour with 13.4 million viewers and a 2.7 rating while Awake on NBC could only muster 3.1 million viewers with a 1.0 rating – the axe man will be preparing to strike if ratings don’t improve.
