Strong return for Game of Thrones on Sky Atlantic

Game of ThronesFantasy import Game of Thrones returned to Sky Atlantic last night with over half a million viewers.

The second series of the HBO fantasy drama kicked off on Sky Atlantic just a day after it’s return in America – meaning UK fans only had to wait 24 hours for the series to launch over here. In the past UK fans have had to wait months or even years, in some cases, for new episodes of American shows to be screen in the UK but that gap has been shortening for some considerable time.

Game of Thrones, which stars Lena Headey and Stephen Dillane, pulled in 522,000 viewers at 9pm last night on Sky Atlantic. The second season of the drama has added a number of new actors to the cast such as Natalie Dormer, Hannah Murray and Oona Chaplin. The impressive return of Game of Thrones is bolstered by the fact that compared to other shows it doesn’t generate that much press interest beyond the confines of genre publications.
