Titanic ratings continue to sink

ITV‘s lavish drama Titanic, penned by Downton Abbey writer Julian Fellowes, marking the 100th anniversary of the cruise ship’s sinking continued to lose viewers on Sunday evening.

The four-part drama once again saw viewers abandoning it in favour of Silent Witness and offerings on other broadcasters. The highly anticipated drama has failed to shine for ITV1 in the same way that Downton Abbey did. While Titanic launched with fairly impressive ratings it has since lost millions of viewers. Last night’s penultimate episode pulled in just 3.1 million viewers.

The new series of Silent Witness continued on BBC One with 5.8 million viewers while American drama Homeland on Channel Four, starring Damien Lewis, pulled in 1.8 million viewers with a further 336,000 watching an hour later on the time-shift channel. New fantasy drama Once Upon A Time continued on Channel Five at 8pm with 1.7 million viewers retaining its audience from lead-in William and Kate: One Year On which had 1.6 million viewers. Once Upon A Time launched last week with 2 million viewers meaning it held onto the majority of its viewers.
