Video: Neighbours first gay kiss

Australian soap Neighbours featured its first male gay kiss this week as Chris Pappas (James Mason) and Adan Foster (Bob Morley) locked lips.

It is the first male gay kiss in Neighbours in its 27 year history. Back in 2004 the soap did feature a lesbian kiss between Sky Mangel (Stephanie McIntosh) and Lana Crawford (Bridget Neval) which prompted considerable backlash from more conservative quarters.

Neighbours producer Susan Bower has stated he is “proud” of how the soap has handled the kiss this time around.

While the gay kiss aired in Australia this week UK fans will have to wait a little longer. The scenes are due to air on Channel Five in May.
