Sky Atlantic HD to cast eye over iconic gay performers from the past 60 years

Sky Atlantic HD is to air a new three part factual series entitled God Save The Queens.

Produced by Twofour, the series will look at some of the most flamboyant and iconic gay performers over the past 60 years.

It begins in 1952, the year Princess Elizabeth became Her Majesty The Queen, and explores the roles of iconic cam performers and how they changed public attitude towards homosexuality in the UK. Actors, entertainers and musicians are lined-up to speak about the untold stories of gay performers throughout the decades.

“The history of entertainment is inextricably linked with camp culture. God Save The Queens is a celebratory look at the flamboyant male stars who have shaped our cultural landscape during the 60 years of the Queen’s reign.” -Clare Handford, Commissioning Editor, Factual for Sky.
