Brookside DVD campaign gets tweeting

Campaigners for the Brookside on DVD petition have recently taken to Twitter to forge further support.

Currently over 2500 tweeters are following the official twitter profile for the DVD campaign with many former cast of the show ‘retweeting’ to show support for the idea of a best of Brookside DVD to mark the 30th Anniversary.

Today fans of the soap have been tweeting about tonight’s ITV British Soap Awards show with the hope of a comment from host Phillip Schofield with in the recording.

 “Hopefully #BrooksideDVD gets mentioned @SoapAwards 2night by @Schofe Good luck 2 the soaps. @BrooksideDVD”

Previous tweets have seen mentions on ITV’s This Morning’s soap section. Brookside ended in 2003 after 21-years on Channel 4. Set in a cul-de-sac it became a trailblazer for social plots and dramatic storylines which at the time ITV mainstream channel was ‘banned’ from showing by the IBA regulator and the BBC were even more reserved.

The British Soap Awards 2012 airs on Wednesday night on ITV1.
