Crystal Chappell to join The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bold and the BeautifulFormer Guiding Light actress Crystal Chappell is to join the cast of CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful as a new lesbian character.

The Los Angeles soap is to make its first foray into the world of gay relationships with the introduction of Crystal Chappell’s new character. Although The Bold and the Beautiful has been on-air for 25 years it has not, up until now, featured a same-sex romance storyline in stark contrast to fellow (now defunct) CBS soaps such as As The World Turns (Noah and Luke) and Guiding Light.

Entertainment Weekly
report that Chappell will play Danielle, the other mother of Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey). The character of Caroline was introduced to the soap last month as her mother Karen Spencer (Joanna Johnson) returned to the soap. While Caroline is aware of her mother’s lesbian relationship with Danielle then other members of the Forrester family, and friends, are unaware. This being the world of soap its a relationship not likely to remain secret for very long! Chappell will make her debut on The Bold and the Beautiful in May.
