The two talent contests currently clash for a twenty minute period on Saturday evenings from at 8pm. The clashes so far between the two shows has proven to be costly for Britain’s Got Talent as The Voice has rated higher with viewers – the gap between the two over the Easter Weekend was around four million viewers.

Although Britain’s Got Talent has more viewers overall the fact The Voice has the edge over the ITV1 series during the period they clash hasn’t gone un-noticed by the press. After The Voice continued to see its ratings rise on Saturday evening Simon Cowell tweeted a congratulations to the BBC for the success of the series.

Advance schedules for the 21st April reveal that Britain’s Got Talent has been pushed back to 8.30pm avoiding a clash with The Voice completely. That means viewers will be able to watch both shows without having to chose which one to watch during the clash period – or which one to record and watch later.

ITV had high hopes that Britain’s Got Talent would rule supreme over The Voice especially with the return of Simon Cowell to the judges panel and the addition of Alesha Dixon and David Walliams. However, the new format of The Voice has clearly won over viewers who are perhaps fed up of the gimmicks and mocking associated with BGT.
