Beastie Boys star Adam Yauch has died

It has been confirmed that Adam Yauch has died at the age of 47.
His publicist told the BBC that the news was true after breaking online earlier. The Beastie Boys dominated the music scene in the 80’s and 90’s with such hits as ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)’ and ‘Intergalactic’, which was their highest charting single in the UK, reaching No.5 in 1998.

Yauch was known by his stage name MCA, which has been trending on twitter since the announcement. In 2009 he was diagnosed with cancer but it is not clear if this was the cause of death.
