American Gymnast Comes Out As Gay

American gymnast Josh Dixon has come out as gay ahead of the London Olympics this Summer.
Dixon’s reveal about his sexuality makes him America’s first openly gay gymnast at the competition. Dixon revealed he was gay in an interview with Outsports.com in which he said his career was ‘number one priority, and if something got in the way of that I had to push it aside’
The gymnast revealed he came out as gay to a friend while at University when that friend came out to him. Dixon also revealed that he had not come across homophobia ‘in any way, shape or form’
The London 2012 Olympics are due to launch on July 27th and run through to August 12th and will then be followed by the Paralympics. The Olympic Torch is currently touring the UK and it is estimated it will come within 95% of the population of the country, being carried by 8000 torch carriers and lasting 70 days during which it will also visit Dublin, the capital of Ireland. It will be the only part of the relay to take place outside of the UK.
