EastEnders: David Witts cast to play Joey Branning

Actor David Witts has been cast to play Joey Branning in EastEnders.
Joey is the son of Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) and will soon turn up in the Square after his sister Alice (Jasmyn Banks), who is keen to see their father.

“I am delighted to be joining EastEnders after being a fan for so many years. Joining the Branning family couldn’t have come at a better time especially after the recent British Soap Award wins.” – David Witts

It was announced today that Matt Lapinskas, who plays Anthony Moon, is to leave after nearly a year in the show. Tabloid newspapers have described current events as a ‘crisis’, as ratings drop to under 6 million. EastEnders has been facing ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals.

“Joey is a fantastic addition to the Brannings. After an explosive entrance onto the Square, he is set to break a few hearts as he campaigns to bring Derek down.” – Lorraine Newman, Executive Producer

EastEnders airs on BBC One, Mondays at 8.00pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm and Fridays at 8.00pm.
